1. Talk to people about themselves . Their successes, their failure, their strenths, their stories, their favorite bands, musicians, actors, hobby, passion, goals, etc.
2. Greet them and talk with enthusiasm and animation
3. Everyone is good at something or the other, identify and appreciate them for that.
4. William Winter once remarked that "self expression is the dominant necessity of human nature"
When we have a brilliant idea, instead of making others think it is ours, why not let them cook and stir the idea themselves ? They will then regard it as their own; they will like it more, and maybe help you with its execution.
5. Look at things from the other person points of view as well as yours. Instead of condemning people, try to understand them first.
6. A friendly approach, appreciation can make people change their minds more readily than all the bluster and storming in the world.
7. It isn't what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you're doing that makes you happy or unhappy but it is what you think about .
8. LAO-TSE SAID, "The reason why rivers and seas receive the homage of a hundred mountain streams is that they keep below them. So the sage wishing to be above men, putteth himself below them; wishing to be before the, he putteth himself behind them. Thus, though his place be above them, they do not feel his weight; though his place be before them, they do not count it an injury."
9. In order t change people, appeal to the nobler motives.
10. Don't argue with your customers or your spouse or your adversary. Don't tell them they are wrong, don't get them stirred up. Use a little diplomacy. By asking questions in a very friendly, cooperative spirit and insisting continually that they were right with their intention but not action or word, or execution of their idea/intention or that the results however were not satisfactory.
11. Avoid criticizing directly or in public, do it in private and preferable indirectly.
12. Make people part of a decision. No one likes to take orders.
13. Talk about your mistake first, before pointing out others of some of their critical mistakes.
14. Do things in order of their priority.
15. If you can solve problems as soon as you face them or realize. Urgent ones first. Else they will give you unnecessary worry and stress.
16. The essence of arts is to have pleasure in giving pleasure.
17. Tell the audience what you're going to say, say it; then tell them what you've said.
